Asus has launched the ROG Ally for $599 and the Z1 Extreme version for $699.
This handheld console offers an immersive gaming experience with improved graphics and higher performance. It runs on Windows 11 and features a seven-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium technology to ensure crisp and clear visuals without any tearing. The console is powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme on Zen4 architecture and AMD Radeon RDNA3 Graphics, providing a groundbreaking 8.6 TFlops of computational power and 4GB VRAM with 12 compute units for stunning visuals. It also comes with 16GB LPDDR5 6400 RAM and a 512GB NVMe PCIe 4 M.2 SSD for fast memory and storage capacity.
The console’s design takes into account the needs of gamers, with over 100 iterations of grip design concepts and a weight trimmed to prevent fatigue while playing. The ROG Ally also features dual fans, dust filters, and heat pipes to keep the device cool while running at peak performance with minimal noise. It can be used in handheld mode or connected to a TV with the ROG 65W HDMI adapter and can be transformed into a gaming PC using a keyboard and mouse with just one plug through the ROG XG Mobile.
The ROG Ally allows access to PC, console, and mobile games through Windows 11, including Steam, XBOX Game Pass, Android apps, Epic Launcher, GOG Galaxy, and various cloud gaming services. It comes with Armoury Crate SE, a special edition software that lets users manage and launch games seamlessly from one place, as well as customize joystick controls and remap controls. The console also features Dolby Atmos and Smart AMP technology for virtual 5.1.2-channel surround sound and louder, more dynamic audio.
Security features include a biometric fingerprint reader for Windows Hello and familiar Windows device controls and protection for device and family safety settings. The console comes with a 90-day Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering access to hundreds of PC games.
